Two pilots were killed when the evacuation seats of an Iranian fighter jet opened
TEHRAN (Reuters) – Two pilots were killed when a fighter jet collided head-on with a hanger-roof in Iran on Friday, officials said.
According to the International News Agency, the evacuation seats opened during the presence of two pilots on the F-5 fighter jet at Dezful Airport near the Iranian capital Tehran and shortly before takeoff.
As the evacuation seats opened, both pilots collided head-on with the “hangar roof” and were crushed to death.
Initially, it was said that the evacuation seats were opened by technical error. The Iranian Air Force has formed an inquiry committee to investigate the incident.
