T20 World Cup: Pakistani players get Indian visas
Lahore: The Indian government has approved visas for the Pakistani team for the T20 World Cup. The Indian government will also issue visas to journalists to cover the World Cup.
The Indian Cricket Board has informed the Apex Council of the details. According to sources, the decision on the arrival of cricket fans in India will be taken later.
It may be recalled that Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ehsan Mani had said that if New Delhi did not assure Pakistani players about visas and security arrangements, the International Cricket Council (ICC) would not allow the T20 World Cup. Will demand relocation outside India.
It may be recalled that a meeting of the International Cricket Council (ICC) was held in Dubai, in which the decision to appoint a local umpire to the host teams was upheld due to Corona. Additional DSR reviews were also allowed in both innings of all formats. The use of saliva for polishing the ball will remain banned. Cod replacement players are also allowed in Test matches.
It is to be noted that the Indian Cricket Board has informed the International Cricket Council in writing about Pakistan’s concern over Pakistan’s participation in the T20 World Cup in India and said that Pakistan’s issues will be resolved amicably.
According to Indian media, after India’s response, the matter will now be taken up in the ICC meeting, the ICC Executive Board meeting is scheduled on March 31 and April 1.
According to Indian media, PCB chairman Ehsan Mani had said in a warning that if we were not assured by March 31, the ICC would protest and hold the global event in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) instead of India. Will demand.
It should be noted that the bilateral cricket series between Pakistan and India is not being played in 2012 due to political tensions, despite the fact that the Pakistani cricket team went to play a world event in the 2016 Cricket World Cup. The event was won by West Indies.
It may be recalled that a few days ago, the chairman of the PCB had said in an interview to an American news agency that our government had never stopped us from playing in India. We have agreed with the ICC that we are going to take part in this (mega event in India) and we cannot oppose it.
“At the ICC level, I have made it clear that we need written assurances from the Indian government not only for our squad’s visas, but also for Pakistani fans, journalists and board officials,” he added. Want visa guarantees.
Australia was scheduled to host the T20 World Cup last year but had to postpone it due to code 19. According to the new schedule, India is now hosting the 2021 edition and Australia will host the tournament next year.
Mani said the ICC had initially told the Pakistan Cricket Board that it would obtain visa clearance from India by December. The ICC also showed leniency in this matter as they told us that this (visa issue) would be resolved by December 31, 2020 but unfortunately this did not happen.
About two months later, Ehsan Mani twice raised the issue with the ICC, saying he would be informed of the final decision by the end of March or else he would demand that the event be moved to the United Arab Emirates.
The PCB chairman added that it had already been decided that if India could not host the event, it would be shifted to the UAE. It is our legal and constitutional right to participate in the tournament and no one can exclude us from the tournament.
Mani said that on a personal level, he had no differences with Indian Cricket Board President S Ganguly. If he (Ganguly) wants to host a tournament in India, I have no problem with that either. This will only be possible if they can convince every stakeholder. But the ICC also has a backup plan that if it (India) cannot hold it, the event will be held at an alternative venue.
