Pakistan defeated South Africa in the second ODI
In the second match of the three-match ODI series between Pakistan and South Africa, the hosts won by 17 runs after a thrilling contest.
In the match played in Johannesburg on Sunday, Pakistan won the toss and elected to field first. An 80-run innings was played by opener Quentin de Cock for the visitors. Markham scored 39 runs. Captain Bauma scored 92 runs. Dawson scored 60 runs and David Miller scored 50 runs.
Haris Rauf took 3 wickets for Pakistan. Shaheen Shah, Hasnain and Faheem Ashraf took one wicket each. South Africa scored 341 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the stipulated 50 overs.
The target was not well pursued by Pakistan. Opener Imam-ul-Haq was dismissed for 5 and captain Babar Azam for 31 runs. On the one hand, the wickets kept falling and on the other hand, Fakhr Zaman persisted. Rizwan Safar, Danish Aziz 9, Shadab Khan 13, Asif Ali 19, Fahim Ashraf 11, Shaheen Afridi were out for 5 runs.
Fakhr Zaman played an innings of 193 off 155 balls. His brilliant batting could not save Pakistan from defeat and in the allotted 50 overs Pakistan scored 324 runs for the loss of 9 wickets.
Norteji took 3 wickets for South Africa. Fakhr Zaman was declared the best player of the match.
