Major drug trafficking operations foiled in Saudi Arabia
There has been a major crackdown on drug dealers in Saudi Arabia. As a result, hundreds of people have been arrested and a total of thousands of kilograms of drugs have been seized. According to Al-Arabiya News, anti-narcotics forces and other security agencies in Saudi Arabia seized 34 tons of qat and 488 kilograms of hashish in a joint operation in the Jazan region and thwarted the drug smuggling attempt.
A spokesman for Saudi Arabia’s Bard Security Forces, Lt. Col. Musafar al-Qarini, said security forces seized 488kg of hashish and 34 tonnes and 485kg of narcotics. In addition, 971676 amphetamines were seized from Al-Jawf area of Najran.
The spokesman said 121 suspects involved in drug trafficking had been arrested. 91 of them were arrested from Jazan.
17 accused were nabbed from Najran, 10 from Asir and 3 from Al-Jawf. He said that the state security agencies were always working to curb drug smuggling and they were vigilant with full determination. That is why the efforts of drug traffickers are constantly being thwarted and anti-social elements are being arrested and brought to justice.
