Gomal University professor fired over harassment allegations: ‘Dismissal is not the only solution to the harassment issue’
A professor at Gomal University in Dera Ismail Khan District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has been fired following an investigation into allegations of harassment leveled at him by a female student.
The university’s syndicate fired Muhammad Zubair, an assistant professor in the political science department, over the inquiry report. A meeting of the syndicate was held a few days ago in which an inquiry report was presented against the teacher concerned.
The order, signed by the registrar of Gomal University, said that in view of the details of the incident, a major penalty was imposed and Assistant Professor Muhammad Zubair was dismissed.
Gomal University has previously received complaints of sexual harassment, which have been acted upon, and even Salahuddin, a professor of Islamic studies, has been fired.
