Dubai: Cricket knocked on the door of the Olympics as the ICC formally expressed its desire to include the sport in the World Cup.

“First of all, I would like to congratulate the International Olympic Committee, the Tokyo 2020 and the people of Japan on the successful organization of the Olympics. We want to see cricket play a part in the future,” said ICC Chairman Greg Berkeley.
“We have one billion spectators around the world, 90 per cent of whom want to watch cricket at the Olympics, 92 per cent of cricket fans are from South Asia, 30 million cricket fans are from the United States alone,” he said. They all want to see their heroes win Olympic medals for the country.
